Cott Keirn – Rowan Cottage
Where farmhouse heritage, gentle warmth and modern comfort awaits
Cott Keirn is believed to have been the original farmhouse of Ballakilley. Although it is now all on one level, it was once arranged over two: livestock were kept on the ground floor, with the family living above them, using the warmth from the animals to help heat their home. Today, it has been thoughtfully restored to offer a peaceful, character‑filled retreat while still honouring its past.
The fully fitted kitchen retains the original internal chimney and cooking pot, and you can still see the openings where the old floor joists once sat — a lovely reminder of the cottage’s heritage. The lounge and dining area open directly onto a private patio, creating a gentle flow between indoor comfort and outdoor calm. Underfloor heating runs throughout the cottage for a cosy, relaxed stay in every season.
The spacious bedroom features a super-king bed that can be arranged as a twin if preferred. The bathroom includes a spa bath and a separate shower, offering a soothing place to unwind after a day exploring the island.
Cott Keirn is an ideal choice for celebrating a special occasion — a birthday, honeymoon or anniversary — or simply for taking time out to relax and recharge. Thoughtful touches such as bathrobes and slippers are provided to make your stay feel that little bit more comfortable.
